Deposit ATM for High-Cash Venues
One machine. Staff deposit their takings. Customers withdraw cash. The same notes do both jobs — that is what a cash recycler does.
Cash has a distribution problem, not a usage problem
Bank branches are closing. Some that remain no longer accept over-the-counter business cash deposits. That leaves retail operators with a real problem: where do you lodge your takings? A deposit-taking ATM placed on-site removes the need for a nearby branch altogether.

From 1 January 2026, most supermarket and fuel retailers in Australia are required to accept cash for eligible in-person transactions. The Australian Government has also moved to regulate cash distribution services to protect continuity of supply to businesses and ATMs. Cash is not going away — but the infrastructure to handle it is thinning out. A deposit ATM closes that gap.
What is a deposit-taking ATM?
A deposit-taking ATM lets customers withdraw cash in the normal way, while venue staff use the same machine to deposit daily cash takings. The two functions share one cabinet, so the business does not need a separate trip to a branch to lodge its takings.
What does ‘cash recycler’ mean?
It is straightforward. The notes that staff deposit are the exact notes that customers withdraw. The machine counts and validates incoming notes, stores them securely, and then dispenses them when cardholders make a withdrawal. Cash circulates through one device rather than sitting in a till, being collected by a cash-in-transit run, transported, and re-delivered. Fewer runs. Less float on site. Lower handling cost.
Staff deposit
Staff feed that day’s cash takings into the deposit slot — up to 300 notes at a time, mixed denominations, no sorting required. The machine counts and validates every note automatically.
Notes are stored securely
Validated notes move into the machine’s secure cassettes. For qualifying businesses, the deposit settles the same day — reducing the amount of cash sitting on-site waiting to be banked.
Customers withdraw
Those same notes become the machine’s withdrawal float. Customers use their card to withdraw cash as normal. The cycle continues, and cash-in-transit visits drop significantly.

Lower cash-handling costs
By depositing takings directly into the on-site ATM, businesses can reduce the number of cash-in-transit runs and the amount of float held in the till and safe. That translates to lower day-to-day cash-handling costs without changing how your business operates at the counter.
For qualifying businesses, cash deposited is settled the same day — reducing the time that large amounts of cash sit on-site waiting to be banked. The deposit function is subject to a qualification process, and Dash can step through the eligibility criteria with interested operators.
Who it suits
The machine is well suited to high-cash-turnover venues, particularly those in areas where a bank branch has closed or no longer accepts retail deposits.

Access to the deposit function is available to approved businesses only. Placement is subject to a qualification process. Dash can step through the eligibility criteria with interested operators and explain which ownership model — outright purchase or managed partnership — suits your situation.
The machine may be purchased outright (Dash’s preferred model, with finance available) or operated under a managed partnership arrangement. Either way, Dash handles the day-to-day management.
Frequently asked questions
What is a deposit ATM and how does cash recycling work?
A deposit-taking ATM lets customers withdraw cash in the normal way, while venue staff use the same machine to deposit daily cash takings. Cash recycling means the notes that staff deposit are the very notes that customers then withdraw. The machine counts, sorts and validates notes as they go in, then makes those same notes available for dispensing — from one cabinet, one location.
Who can use a deposit-taking ATM from Dash?
The machine suits high-cash-turnover venues such as petrol stations, shopping centres, supermarkets, pubs and clubs — particularly those in areas where a bank branch has closed or no longer accepts retail deposits. Access to the deposit function is available to approved businesses only, subject to a qualification process. Dash can step through the eligibility criteria with interested operators.
How quickly are deposits settled?
For qualifying businesses, cash deposited into the machine is settled the same day, reducing the time that large amounts of cash sit on-site waiting to be banked.
Will this reduce our cash-handling costs?
By depositing takings directly into the on-site ATM, businesses can reduce the number of cash-in-transit runs and the amount of float held in the till and safe, which lowers day-to-day cash-handling costs.
Can we buy the machine outright?
Dash’s preferred model is outright purchase, and finance options are available. A managed partnership model is also available. Dash can explain which structure suits your situation — get in touch to start the conversation.
What happens if the machine needs servicing?
Dash handles installation, cash logistics, real-time fault monitoring, transaction reconciliation and ongoing field servicing. Spare parts are held in Braeside VIC and distributed nationally. Venue owners do not need to manage the hardware themselves.
Don’t need the deposit function?
If your venue does not need to deposit cash takings, a standard withdrawal-only ATM may be a simpler fit. Dash offers two alternatives.
